First, I watched my car turn 100,000 miles, which I was probably a little too excited about. Yes, I really did stop and take a picture.
Unfortunately, a few days later at about 100,300 miles my car decided to fail me... at a light, at a busy intersection, with 5:30 traffic. Not good.
A couple of police officers, a tow truck, a few days, and $700 later, we were good to go again. Thankfully, my parents had flown out of DFW to go to Philadelphia for the week and left their car in our care... what good timing they had to leave me with a spare car!
Before they left town, my parents treated Justin and I to something that I have been looking forward to since I heard about it in December...
WICKED!!!
While I was studying abroad, I had the opportunity to see lots of shows, and this one easily became my favorite. I LOVED getting to see Wicked again with some of the people who have been subjected to my enthusiasm for it the most. If you haven't seen it, you must!
Please note how my dad and my husband are wearing the same outfit...
We also celebrated my good friend, Kellie's, birthday!! Several of her friends and family members were able to make it out to dinner to surprise her, followed by cake, etc. at our place. Kellie is one of my favorite people in the world and it was fun to celebrate with her!
This weekend Justin and I were excited to hear that my brother and sister-in-law were coming to town, along with my sweet baby nieces! We grabbed our umbrellas and made plans to go to the Rangers game... Unfortunately, the weather had different plans for us. Because rain delays took over the game, we ended up going to dinner with them instead, where Justin and I got to see the girls walk for the first time! It is hard to believe how big they are getting. They're starting to look more like little girls than babies!
Around 9:30, there was finally reason to hope that the rain might let up and the Rangers might actually get to play, so Justin and Jason headed to the ballpark and Katie and I took the little ones. We were a little disappointed that our plans didn't pan out the way we had hoped, but it is always good to see Jason and Katie and the girls. It doesn't happen nearly enough!
In the midst of all of this, I got to take midterms this week... those things sneak up on you in these short summer sessions! School is going pretty well - that is, I haven't quit yet - and Justin and I are both still enjoying our jobs. We have been very blessed in the last couple of months and have received plenty of reminders that God is in charge - and more importantly, that that is a good thing!
Hope you all have a happy 4th of July weekend!
The tow truck company really deserves some props for a brilliant(sick?) name. It's right up there with Butt'r cream for cyclists!
